- captain of the U.S. Corps of Cadets at West Point. She should
- know. Kristin Baker, 21, is the new commander of the long gray
- line, the first woman to win the academy's highest honor. A
- self-styled "Army brat," she hadn't planned on a military career
- but changed her mind after seeing the Point, her dad's alma
- mater. At 5 ft. 4 in., she is shorter than most of the 4,400
- cadets she'll order around. On the other hand, she's 2 in.
- taller than Napoleon Bonaparte.
